INTRODUCTION: Food supplements are “Food supplements are concentrated sources of nutrients (i.e. mineral and vitamins) or other substances with a nutritional or physiological effect that are marketed in “dose” form (e.g. pills, tablets, capsules, liquids in measured doses). A wide range of nutrients and other ingredients might be present in food supplements, including, but not limited to, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, essential fatty acids, fibre and various plants and herbal extracts” according to EFSA. Food supplements are intended to correct nutritional deficiencies, maintain an adequate intake of certain nutrients, or to support specific physiological functions. They are not medicinal products and as such cannot exert a pharmacological, immunological or metabolic action. Therefore their use is not intended to treat or prevent diseases in humans or to modify physiological functions.

About MAS: Romanian food supplements market estimated at about 2,8 billion lei (about 560 million EUR, according to FORBES, quoting PRISA). Typically, customers are almost lost in thousands of types of food supplements and, in general, they are not able to make the right selection, which lead to time and money spending in an unappropriated manner. MAS is a 100% free of charge app that provide advice on the use of food supplements, as a way to support specific physiological functions. Also, is a decision support tool helping customers to purchase food supplements from various distributors (e.g. pharmacies) with the smallest amount of money (best value for money). Once decision is taken (which food supplement, which pharmacy, etc.) MAS is also providing potential solutions for package delivery to the customer. They may choose to pick the package from a specified location (e.g. pharmacy or pick up point) or to be delivered at home/work. IMPORTANT: MAS do not replace under no circumstances medical recommendations. Recommendations given by medical staff should always take precedence of any solutions provided by MAS

How does MAS work?

Step 1: Each customer is asked to create a user account and a password.

Step 2: Once the customer has the result from medical testing, (s)he is requested to fill in a form, introducing the value mentioned in the result sheet for each parameter (hemoglobin, glycemia, cholesterol, etc.).

Step 3: If the parameter value is out of the standard range, MAS will provide an advice on what food supplement is recommended to buy and use, in order to bring back in the approved interval. Recommendations are provided based on the indications for use delivered by the producer. Each supplement that MAS recommends will made available the prospectus, as provided by the manufacturer.

Step 4: MAS will deliver a proposal to the customer on the followings:

a. The food supplement considered for that specific parameter (e.g. to decrease glycemia, to decrease triglycerides, to increase hemoglobin, etc.),

b. various packaging mode (e.g. 30 pills, 60 pills, etc.),

c. price and distributor where is available

Step 6: The customer will make the appropriate selection base on the following criteria: price, avaylability to local distributor, location where the food supplements are available (i.e. address of the pharmacy), possibility to have the pack delivered to a specified address, including the shipping cost

Step 7: Once the customer made the appropriate selection, the package (containing the selected food supplements) will be made available in that specific manner (picked up from a specified locations or shipped by courier).

Who is MAS designed for? MAS is designed all people with minimum IT skills and appropriate understanding of food supplement use.

Internet connection MAS was built assuming a data network connection would be present all, or at least most, of the time. For all aspects of Waze to operate, you must have an active data connection on your (mobile) device.

Data and cost MAS is free of charge to download and use for everyone, but phone and carrier data rates continue to apply. Because MAS receives and delivers information related to availability of food supplements, we strongly encourage having a mobile data plan with your mobile service provider in order to use MAS on the go. Continuous usage could use a lot of data. The amount of data used by MAS may differ from one device to another. It depends on the number of parameters processed, number and availability to distributors and other factors.

Delete Account: You can choose to delete your MAS account and your personal information by using the "Delete Account" option which is available under the Privacy settings in the application and on the MAS website. If you delete your MAS account all your credits, saved data will be gone.
